The whole world this year will look at Italy and its Expo Milan, where it will have a fundamental role with its culinary art. Some days before, the event La Mostra Internazionale dell’Artigianato will be a unique occasion to admire the Italian handicraft excellences  in the charming city of Florence.

The event will take place for its 79th edition, from April the 24th till May the 3rd in the majestic fortress Fortezza da Basso and it will host 840 expositors from 50 different countries, confirming the reason for which it was created in 1931: to defend and to preserve those old handmade professions that made Florence the land where Made in Italy excellences bornt. The visitors will have the possibility to discover handcrafts manufacturing from every region,  new arrivals in the field of eco-sustainability, and new techniques for bringing  back to life garbage products creating unique pieces of art.


In the pavilion Arsenale “the reuse” will be the main topic, here thirty artisans will expose their creations made up by natural and biologic materials. To do not miss the stand of Mani Creative of Florence that  will organize demonstrations and workshops for the production of various materials respecting the environment, furthermore it will be dedicated some space to children for teaching them the reuse with interactive workshops. In the same pavilion the cultural association Heyart will organize two interesting events: T-riciclo Green Market, dedicated to the creative reuse of wastes, and the Rendez-vous vintage, where there will be unique pieces of collection of the 80’s.  Also the pavilion Spadolini will also host an eco-sustainable initiative, indeed “Centopercento” chose young Italian artisans and designers to show how it is possible to reuse wastes for creating original furniture goods and jewellery, always respecting the environment.


The Made in Italy will not be the only protagonist, the honour guest this year will be the Tibet with its handicraft and its typical cuisine. The visitors will have the chance to admire the roll up painting made of precious cloths called Thangka, and also the fascinating Mandala, created with patience by the Buddhist monks and representing geometrical figures allusive to gods. Moreover a Tibetan restaurant will be situated in the last floor of the pavilion for appreciating the typical dishes of this mysterious country.

There will be also space dedicated to whom has the green finger, the company FLOREVER from Netherlands will show the last innovations in the field of grafts and floral creations. In the area dedicated to open air activities various lessons on eco-sustainability will be held by the association “Foresta Modello delle Montagne Fiorentine” which promotes the sustainable employment of forests.
